Gastroenterologist – Laurel, MS
TOTAL COMPENSATION RANGE: $600k-$650K
Provides treatment for the liver, stomach, intestines, colon and any other organs in the body running in the gastrointestinal tract from the mouth to the anus.
The gastroenterologist team treats appendicitis, fecal incontinence, hemorrhoids, liver diseases and pancreatic diseases.
Responsibilities
Start date: ASAP
Shifts: Monday – Friday / 8am – 5pm for clinic --- Friday – Thursday / 8am – 5pm for hospital
Call: Yes (Varies)
Patients per day: Average 24 patients per day in clinic --- Average 6 consults, 8 subsequent visits in hospital --- Average 16 Endo cases in outpatient
EMR: Cerner
Support Staff: Nurse and Certified Medical Assistant (outpatient) --- RN in hospital setting that performs pre-rounding
Practice setting: Inpatient and Outpatient
Reason For Need: Patient volume, call schedule gaps, physician retirement in near future, FT physician reducing schedule to PT as retirement approaches
Qualifications
Boards: BE/BC
Fellowship: Gastroenterology (required)
Board Certified/Board Eligible in: FM, IM or Geriatric Medicine

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
National Institutes of Health (NIH)
Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
Active unencumbered physician Mississippi state license
Graduate from a fully accredited MD or DO program
One year of work experience as a Gastroenterologist
One year of EMR experience
Board Certified
