Alta Vista Regional Hospital (AVRH), a comprehensive, 54-bed, full-service facility offers a broad spectrum of integrated services.
Accredited by the Joint Commission (formerly the JCAHO), this hospital has an active medical staff of 29 representing 15 specialties.
There is also a continued focus on adding specialties to meet the needs of the community. AVRH offers emergency services, birthing rooms, cardiovascular services, diagnostic imaging, outpatient services, pharmacy services, an Intensive Care Unit, physical and occupational therapy, radiology and more. EDUCATION
There are two school districts comprised of eight elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools, with a total enrollment of over 4,700 students. New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU). NMHU is the only four-year public college in northern New Mexico. It is known for its small classes, personalized education, student achievement and excellent faculty. Attendees choose from undergraduate and graduate programs in arts and sciences, business, education and social work at the main campus, located in the heart of Las Vegas. Other educational opportunities exist through Luna Vocational Technical Institute and the Armand Hammer United World College of the American West.
